Sanghika Dana

August 31, 2024 @ 11:00 am - 1:30 pm

Sanghika dānaṁ mahapphalaṁ hoti.

The offering to the Sangha yields great fruits.

Sanghika dana is held to honour the profound service and boundless compassion demonstrated by the late chief, Ven. Dr. K. Sri Dhammananda and other Sangha members, as well as spiritual teachers who have devoted their lives to sharing the Dhamma.

This significant event invites Buddhist monks and nuns from all around Malaysia to come together and commemorate their contributions on the death anniversary of these revered individuals.

Event Details

The ceremony will be a day of deep respect and gratitude, bringing together the monastic community and lay devotees in a shared expression of reverence and generosity.

Devotees are invited to participate actively by bringing their dishes to offer as alms to the monks. This practice, known as Dana, embodies the virtue of giving and is considered one of the most meritorious acts in Buddhism.

In addition to food, devotees are encouraged to offer requisites such as medicine, toiletries, and other daily necessities that are essential for the monks’ well-being.

These offerings are not just acts of charity; they symbolize the mutual support and interdependence between the lay community and the monastic Sangha. The monks and nuns rely on these offerings for their sustenance and health, allowing them to continue their spiritual practice and teaching.
