The Buddhist Maha Vihara, originally and affectionately known as Brickfields Buddhist Temple was founded in 1894 by the Śāsana Abhiwurdhi Wardhana Society (SAWS), the oldest registered Buddhist Society in the Klang Valley.
For over a century, the temple has served as a refuge for the practice of Buddha-Dhamma in the Sri Lankan Theravada Buddhist tradition.
To be a conducive environment to:
Promote scholarship and study of the Buddha Dhamma
Propagate the Buddha Dhamma
Be the focus of Buddhist activities for the larger community
Foster Thervada Buddhist cultural and traditional practises
At our Buddhist Maha Vihara, we are committed to providing a range of services to support and enrich the spiritual lives of our community.
